The Yoga Caroline teaches
Restorative - Part of the Iyengar lineage, Restorative yoga was popularised in the West by Judith Lasater. Using multiple props to support the body in simple poses, Restorative yoga helps us learn to rest deeply and completely. This is a self-care practice that counters the chronic stress and fast-paced nature of modern life. Minimal light to darkness, silence, warmth, and calming breathing is used to reduce stimuli, creating a deep feeling of restfulness. It’s like giving yourself a big hug.
Postures are held for between eight and twenty minutes.
Yin - Stemming from Taoist Yoga, a yin approach works to promote flexibility in areas often perceived as nonmalleable, especially the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. While Yang yoga practices like Ashtanga and Vinyasa physically target the ‘superficial’ muscles, in Yin yoga, deep connective tissues of the body are targetted – the ligaments, joints, bones, and deep fascia networks. In Yin postures, you rest close to the ground, seated & lying down.
Postures are held for between two and five minutes.
Vinyasa/Flow - Combining postures and practices from Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa lineages, flow yoga is dynamic and powerful. With an emphasis on breathing techniques and meditation, Caroline promotes thoughtful and reflexive yoga to promote both physical and mental well-being.
